Estefanía Vela heads the Sexual and Reproductive Rights Program at the Law Department of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), a public teaching and research center in Mexico City. She holds a B.A. in Law from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de Mexico (ITAM) and an LL.M. from the Yale Law School, where she is currently developing her J.S.D. dissertation.  She is a weekly columnist for El Universal, in Mexico, and has also written for the New York Times en Español and other media outlets.
